Last Tangle Salon's Night of Color

August 28, 2009

Night of Color

On Monday, August 24th, we were in Overland Park, KS to cover Last Tangle Salon's Night of Color event. Sometimes it seems like we are in Overland Park more than Blue Springs! We were asked to take pictures of the staff at work and take the "after" portraits for everyone that participated. Last Tangle provided mini makeovers to some of their customers including cuts, color and makeup. We had a blast and got some great images. As always, everyone at Last Tangle was very welcoming and went out of their ways to make sure everyone had a great time. View all the pictures from this event by clicking here!

On Tuesday, August 25th, T L G headed to Overland Park, Kansas to cover Will Shield's Women's Football Clinic. The event was at Will Shields 68's Inside Sports Training Academy and over 50 women signed up to attend. Will did not take it easy on the ladies, he and other trainers went over passing, catching and hand offs. They even went through blocking and tackling drills! There were even thorough lessons on every offensive and defensive positions, sorry kickers and punters. To view and order pictures from this event, click here!

Why Pink Portrait Sessions

August 16, 2009

Amy and I have already completed our 2009 Why Pink Portrait Sessions, and we have included our final images. The kid's images will be complete by the end of the week. My portrait was taken by Tessa Elwood of Pop Color in the Crossroads District. She made the session very comfortable and the final image is outstanding! I took Amy picture at Nelson-Atkins Museum and she is pleased with the outcome as well. These sessions are a fun way to show support for breast health and 50% of the cost of the session goes to Komen Kansas City.

We are not only Why Pink Photographers and Sponsors we are the Co-Founders of the Why Pink Campaign. For more information about Why Pink, visit the website.

T L G Photographs David Cook in Concert

August 14, 2009

David Cook

We had the honor of Photographing Blue Spring's own and American Idol winner David Cook at the annual Red, White and Boom Concert. Cook recalled attended the concert in the past and was amazed by the size of the crowd and the amount of loved he received from the crowd. At one point, he came to the end of the stage and took it all in. Our press passes gave us access to "the pit" so we were able to take some amazing pictures of David Cook and Blue October. We have posted a few of them below.

The Goodwins and The Muse Project KC in Launch Pad

August 12, 2009

Early in 2009 Amy and I were selected to take over the management of The Muse Project Kansas City (TMP). TMP brings local models, photographers, hair stylists, makeup artists and clothing boutiques together for themed portrait sessions. These sessions result in professional quality images that everyone involved can used to build their portfolios or market their services. TMP has had 4 sessions so far in 2009 and received its fair share of media attention and recognition, including an article in the August issue of LaunchPad Magazine. We have included a couple of images and the text to the article below. For more information on The Muse Project KC, visit their website.

Come Together! - The Muse Project unites beauty and fashion pros to create editorial-style collections.

"The Muse Project brings all kinds of creative people together - hairstylists makeup artists, fashion directors, and photographers - and really shows them how to work together as a team to create an editorial-worthy collection," explains Last Tangle Salon owner Jenny Thomas. Thomas - whose salon based in Overland Park, Kansas - is a proud coordinator for her city's Muse organization. "The Muse Project is all about promoting your creative abilities through the help of others; people work as a team to create a professional shoot, and then are encouraged to submit their work to the media." But Thomas also wants to pave the way for a national community where stylists "check their egos at the door and work together to create amazing photos and to learn. Most importantly, I want other stylists to know that paying it forward and taking care of your community comes back tenfold, in your heart and in your checkbook." For more information contact Trevor and Amy Goodwin, who currently run The Muse Project.

Susan G Komen's Race for the Cure Kansas City

August 10, 2009

The 2009 Race for the Cure was amazing! Amy, Anthony, Kayla and I attended the 2009 Race as a part of Team Why Pink. Team Why Pink raised over $700, had the second largest team in their group and came in third place in the T-Shirt contest. There was over 28,000 participants this year, proving Kansas City gives big even in a tough economy. It was a beautiful morning and we had a great time. We have put together a slideshow and have it posted below for viewing. You can also order prints by clicking on the shopping cart. T L G Photography will donate 25% of each print ordered from this gallery to Komen Kansas City!
